My Mailbox - Conversation Threading
Understand how MelMe groups back-and-forth replies into tidy, readable email conversations.
1. Overview
Rather than listing every incoming and outgoing email as a separate, confusing entry, MelMe supports Conversation Threading. This automatically groups all emails with the same subject and recipient into a single, cohesive timeline, just like modern messaging apps.
2. Why This Matters
Reading back-and-forth emails across separate entries is tedious and leads to missing critical context. Threading enables you to see the entire history of a client discussion at a single glance, helping you craft accurate replies.
3. How to Use It
Viewing Threaded Chats:
- Open your Inbox inside My Mailbox.
- If a conversation has multiple messages, you will see a badge or count indicating the number of emails in the thread.
- Click the thread to open the reader.
- The Conversation Flow:
- Messages are ordered chronologically (oldest at the top, newest at the bottom).
- Click on individual message blocks in the timeline to expand or collapse them.
- Incoming emails show the sender's name/address, and outgoing replies show your selected alias sender.
4. Common Mistakes
- Breaking the thread with a new subject line: If you compose a completely new email with a different subject line instead of clicking "Reply" on the existing thread, MelMe will treat it as a new conversation rather than grouping it with the old one.
- Confusing thread participants: In busy shared support inboxes, pay close attention to which customer sent which message in the timeline to prevent sending replies to the wrong person.
5. Tips
Collapse for Clarity: By default, MelMe expands the latest message in the thread. You can click on the headers of older emails in the thread to expand them and reference details from earlier in the chat.
