My Mailbox App
My Mailbox - Attachment Processing
Learn how MelMe handles email file attachments safely and efficiently.
1. Overview
When you receive emails with file attachments (like PDFs, images, or documents), MelMe runs a secure attachment processing sequence. Once processed, you can view and download files directly from your conversation window.
2. Why This Matters & How It Works
To keep your account running fast and completely secure, MelMe processes all attachments:
- Security Scanning: MelMe inspects incoming files to ensure they don't contain harmful files or malware before you download them to your local device.
- Storage Isolation: Rather than overloading your email database, MelMe moves attachments to a secure, isolated cloud storage vault. This keeps your main mailbox fast and prevents large files from crashing your inbox.
While an attachment is being secured, you will see a temporary status indicator next to the file name. Once complete, a secure download link is generated automatically.
3. How to Use It
Viewing and Downloading Attachments:
- Open an email thread that contains attachments.
- In the email header or body, you will see a list of attached files.
- Check the status indicator:
- 🟢 Ready: Click the download button or file name to download the file directly to your device.
- 🟡 Processing: MelMe is currently running security scans and securing the file storage. Wait a few moments and click refresh if needed.
- 🔴 Failed: The file was blocked for security reasons or a processing error occurred.
4. Common Mistakes
- Attempting to open files while "Processing": You cannot click or download a file while its status is yellow (Processing). Allow the system a few seconds to complete the safety checks.
- Uploading giant files: When sending emails, check standard attachment size guidelines (usually keeping total uploads under 10MB) to ensure other email hosts do not reject your outbound mail.
5. Tips
Supported Formats: MelMe supports all common file formats, including images (PNG, JPEG), documents (PDF, DOCX), spreadsheets (XLSX), and presentations (PPTX).
