Sending Your First Email
Learn how to compose a new email or reply to an incoming message directly from your MelMe Mailbox.
1. Overview
Sending outgoing emails in MelMe is handled inside the My Mailbox app. From there, you can compose fresh messages or reply to incoming emails using any of your domain aliases as the sender identity.
2. Why This Matters
To look completely professional, your clients should receive emails directly from your custom domain address (e.g., contact@yourdomain.com) instead of your personal Gmail account. MelMe allows you to both receive and reply under your clean business brand seamlessly.
3. How to Use It
Step 1: Log in to My Mailbox
- Go to the My Mailbox page on MelMe.
- Enter your mailbox slug and password to log in.
Step 2: Compose a New Email
- Click the Compose button (usually a pencil icon).
- From Address: Select which verified alias you want to send from (e.g.,
sales@yourdomain.com). - To Address: Type in the recipient's email address.
- Subject & Body: Enter your subject line and compose your message in the text editor.
- Click Send. MelMe routes this through secure Amazon servers to ensure it delivers successfully.
Step 3: Replying to an Email
- Open any email inside your Inbox.
- Click the Reply button at the bottom of the conversation thread.
- Your "From Address" is automatically matched to the alias the recipient wrote to.
- Type your reply and click Send.
4. Common Mistakes
- Sending from an Unlinked Alias: When composing, ensure you select an alias that is actively verified and linked to your domain in your admin dashboard.
- Forgetting the Sender Name: Double-check your mailbox settings to make sure your professional "Sender Name" is set (e.g., "Jane Smith" instead of just a blank sender) so recipients immediately recognize you.
5. Tips
Important Note: Outbound emails sent via forwarding-only aliases are not directly supported from the admin panel since forward aliases do not have mailboxes. To send or reply to emails under your custom domain brand, always ensure the alias is routed to a Mailbox!
