Replying to Email Threads
Learn how replying works in MelMe and how conversation history is automatically maintained.
1. Overview
Replying to incoming messages is simple inside MelMe. Clicking Reply on an email thread sets up an automatic composer that preserves your conversation context and matches your sender identity perfectly.
2. Why This Matters
When clients engage with your business, they expect a single continuous thread rather than disjointed emails. Keeping replies grouped together helps track issues, resolve questions, and keep your interactions organized.
3. How to Use It
Replying Step-by-Step:
- Open your mailbox and select a conversation thread in the Inbox.
- Scroll to the bottom of the reading panel and click Reply.
- Smart Identity Matching: MelMe reads the incoming message headers and automatically sets the From field to the exact alias that received the original message.
- Type your reply in the composer.
- Click Send. Your reply is delivered and instantly appended to the bottom of the conversation thread.
4. Common Mistakes
- Replying from an Unrelated Mailbox Alias: If a customer wrote to
billing@yourdomain.com, ensure you reply frombilling@yourdomain.comrather than switching it tosales@yourdomain.comunless absolutely necessary. - Creating a New Message Instead of Replying: If you compose a fresh email to reply to a customer, it will create a brand new thread instead of linking to the old one. Always use the Reply button on the thread to keep conversations grouped!
5. Tips
Automatic Quotes: MelMe automatically appends the previous conversation history below your reply, helping recipients remember what was discussed.
