Account Security Overview

Learn how MelMe secures your admin credentials and the tools available to protect your workspace.

1. Overview

Your Admin Account controls your entire domain email network. Because this is the highest level of access in MelMe, the platform includes enterprise-grade protection tools—such as two-factor authentication, secure session tracking, and passwordless passkeys—to safeguard your data.

2. Why This Matters

If your admin account is compromised, attackers could route your emails, access sensitive invoices, modify domain settings, or block your access entirely. Utilizing MelMe's security suite keeps your business and personal communications fully secure.

3. How to Use It (Securing Your Account)

We recommend all users implement these three layers of security:

Layer 1: Strong Passwords

Set a password that is unique to MelMe. Do not reuse credentials from other websites.

Layer 2: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Requires entering a timed code from your phone's authenticator app (like Google Authenticator) whenever you log in. Even if someone steals your password, they cannot enter without this second code.

Layer 3: Set Up a Passkey

Register your computer or phone's secure bio-auth (like TouchID, FaceID, or Windows Hello). This allows you to log in with a single touch, completely bypassing passwords.

4. Common Mistakes

  • Reusing Admin Passwords on Mailboxes: Never use your admin account password for individual mailboxes. If an employee's mailbox password is leaked, your main account remains protected if you kept passwords unique.
  • Skipping 2FA Setup: Postponing 2FA activation exposes your account to brute-force or credential-stuffing attacks.

5. Tips

Backup Codes: When activating 2FA, copy your Backup Codes and store them in a secure place. If you lose your phone, these codes are the only way to recover your account without administrative resets.
