Domain Verification Statuses
Understand what each verification status means and how to transition a domain to the fully verified state.
1. Overview
Every domain added to MelMe goes through a verification check. You can track this process directly from the dashboard under the Verification Status column. There are three statuses: Pending, Verified, and Failed.
2. Why This Matters
Understanding what each status represents helps you diagnose and solve DNS issues quickly, ensuring your email traffic remains active and uninterrupted.
3. What the Statuses Mean
Below is a breakdown of the three statuses and their implications:
| Status | What it means | Actions required |
|---|---|---|
| 🟡 Pending | The domain is newly added. MelMe has not yet successfully read the required DNS records from your registrar. | Add the DNS records at your registrar and click Check Status in MelMe. |
| 🟢 Verified | All TXT, CNAME, and MX records are perfectly matched. The domain is fully active and ready to handle email traffic. | None! You can now create unlimited aliases on this domain. |
| 🔴 Failed | MelMe checked your DNS records, but the values were incorrect, missing, or mismatched. | Double-check the DNS records in your domain registrar against the values provided in MelMe and verify again. |
4. Common Mistakes
- Giving Up Too Quickly: Many users see a
FailedorPendingstatus and assume something is broken. Remember that DNS servers globally take time to sync. Give it at least 1–2 hours after adding records before assuming a configuration error. - Typing Errors: The DKIM and TXT values are very long, complicated strings of characters. Do not type them manually; always use the Copy buttons next to each record in the MelMe panel to prevent typos.
5. Tips
Checking Manually: If your domain registrar has a TTL (Time To Live) setting for DNS entries, set it to the lowest possible value (e.g., 5 minutes or 300 seconds) while verifying. This forces the DNS servers to refresh faster!
